Tattoo Aftercare
Please follow these tattooing aftercare instructions:
- For at least two weeks, minimize exposure to the sun and discourage swimming
- Properly cleanse the tattooed area
- Apply antibiotic ointment or cream
- Use sterile bandage(s) or other sterile dressing(s) when necessary
- The client shall consult a health care practitioner at the first sign of infection or an allergic reaction, and report any diagnosed infection, allergic reaction, or adverse reaction resulting from the tattoo to the artist an the Texas Department of State Health Services, Drugs, and Medical Devices Group at 1-888-839-6676
With Tegaderm:
- Wear the tegaderm for 3-5 days.
- Make sure to not sweat excessively. Do not submerge under water in a pool, lake or tub etc.
- You can get it wet in the shower but don’t soak or it will come off.
- Remove it in the shower and let the shower water do the work while pulling slowly on the bandage.
- Wash as usual and add lotion after.
Regular Healing
- Wash it with unscented basic soap and warm water and pat it dry with a paper towel
- Apply a thin layer of healing ointment like Aquaphor
- Do that a couple of times a day until the tenderness stops and the itching starts.
- After that you can use unscented lotion like Lubriderm to keep your skin moisturized and happy.
